Telteca is the translation of the native Huarpe for the noble algarrobo or carob tree. Always respectful of nature, the Huarpe revered the algarrobo for its fruit that helped them to survive the harsh Mendoza desert conditions. Mendoza, where the bright sunshine and hot arid climate are ideal for the cultivation of the noble vine, is home to Telteca. Here celebrated winemaker, Jose Pedro Gomez creates the wines of the desert – young with an intense fruity character and strong varietal spirit that provides a wonderful combination of intense aromas and the lively colors that give Telteca its unique personality.

Telteca Anta Reserve Malbec

Varietal: 100% Malbec

Viticulture & Vinification: Nurtured in the alluvial soil, the drip irrigated grape vines are harvested at their peak. Select grape clusters are delicately fermented to enhance and maintain their profound varietal personality. The wine is then aged 12 months in 60% French and 40% American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: A deep ruby red with violet tinges with a bouquet of elegant ripe prunes and vanilla. Ripe red berry flavors and round tannins are predominant in the mouth followed by a long persistent finish.

Serving Suggestions: The ideal complement to barbecued red meats, heavily sauced pasta or hard cheese.

“Balsam wood, pencil eraser, coconut, anise and blackberry aromas share the bouquet. It feels linear and a touch scratchy, with roasted berry and toasted flavors that steer toward bacon. It feels a little gritty and short on the finish.” Wine Enthusiast, November 2012
