CHATEAU PABUS label

Established in the late 18th century, Chateau Pabus, is located 10 miles from Bordeaux on the right bank of the Garonne. Made exclusively of Merlot, Chateau Pabus offers a seductive mélange of cherry and violet aromas that echo of black fruit on the palate followed by a long finish that is highlighted by finely polished powerful tannins.

VINEYARD AREA : 6.47 hectares (16 acres)

SOIL TYPES : silt/ sand/ clay

PLANTING DENSITY : 5,500 vines per hectare

AVERAGE AGE OF THE VINES : Rational cultivation techniques. No herbicides

SOIL MAINTENANCE : natural, controlled grass cover crop and tillage around the vines

GRAPE VARIETIES : 85% Merlot, 150/0 Malbec

YIELD : 45 hi!per hectare

HARVESTING : by hand using small crates

WINE-MAKING TECHNIQUES : Integral plot-by-plot vinification in 500-litre barrels. Extraction by rotation and cap punching. 30- to 35-day soak

SOAK AFTER FERMENTATION : 280C (820F)

MALOLACTIC FERMENTATION : all in new barrels

AGED IN BARRELS : for 16 months, all new wood

ANNUAL PRODUCTION : 9000 bottles
